It defined the industry standard for professional quality 4 octave chromatics and has gone on to inspire generations of players in blues, soul, jazz and classical music. Whether you play alone or in a band, if you’re looking for a real workhorse 64 chromatic it’s still your best bet.
The chromatic I received is a newer (plastic-combed) Hohner 280, so it’s less maintenance-intensive than the older ones with wood combs. It is a used one but apparently played very little. I like to work on these things so for the price, I don’t mind disassembling them to clean the insides a bit and replace the windsaver valves that need it. So I received a nice Hohner 64 Chromonica at a good price and am quite happy with it.
