Amazing device just don't ask Sony for help
It is currently 2019 and this guy is still a beast. Now a lot of streaming apps are no longer supported but if you are buying this device you should already know it is limited in online functions. That being said let me do a quick rundown. Google chrome and play store work perfectly, the most recent firmware update enabled 3D blu ray playback , the device can side load apps , and Android OS functions are all great. I bought this device for helping me with my upstart eBay business , I needed something that could use the web on the TV , test blu ray and DVDs for functionality , and be able to take advantage of everything android does with the added media formats supported DO NOT TRY TO ASK SONY FOR ANY HELP. I am sharing this because I dont want anyone else to go throug this debacle when they buy this device, information is scarce on the model and what I am posting is the information I couId not find. I purchased mine with out the official remote based off of the Sony manual and support pages indicating most mini keyboards work to control the device. My unit got locked up durning setup and I could not complete setup until I paired the official remote to it. Sony claimed , ( I posted screen caps ) that this is the ONLY blu ray / DVD player in the HISTORY OF SONY that requires the original official remote to complete startup and without that remote , (this is Sony's words) completely useless and will never be able to complete setup. They also said that this information was never disclaimed to the public and is not found in either the manual or the Sony support site. Sony even told me to return it because it will NEVER function without this one specific remote. Well that's all false information and I found a way to complete setup by enabling my Insignia HDMI-CEC feature and it instantly completed setup. Sony refused to tell me any information to trouble shoot this problem , their first and only answer was like I said above. With that being said this device works perfectly with complete functionality ( aside from streaming apps and a few other unsupported apps ) using a Rii I8+ mini keyboard. Sony also told me this keyboard would not control the device. Now this guy works and it is hands down the best piece of equipment that fit my needs. If you love Android OS, need a blu ray / DVD player that can browse the web , connect to a home media network (offline) , play any format of file you throw at it , and works flawlessly this is for you. Last thing I have to say is this device is now the sole piece of equipment I use for running my eBay business , it is perfect and a extremely usefull tool

Great product, but outdated now.
The product itself is outdated, and many of the features can't be used anymore. The remote control and the design and color of the product was the selling point for me. I got a Sony Blu-ray player with a sleek design and an awesome remote. Good Throwback Product
