Mixing life is easier, expanded my Roland VS2480 with another VS8F-2
What a great number and variety of high quality effects for the Roland digital recorders. I has begun broadening my horizons & skills on the VS2480, and having the additional VS8F-2 Effects Expansion board sure does make life easier. Now I am able to dedicate effects to vocal tracks/banks, Guitar muli-effects, and still be able to use them "realtime" while exploiting the Mastering Took Kit in the Mastering Room. I am very impressed with the quality of these effects. The really make a difference in getting that polished and professional sounding end product. A must have for those who are serious on their Roland digital recorders, and that don't want to have to bounce/copy tracks just to free up the effect for another track. TO address the long diatribe- its a true steady no latency workhorse that sounds excellent
In pcm modes: it has a depth missing with a great many dongled daws: It is a highly functional interface. Practically all the points of the naysayer are about lack of knowledge. It is true that some early units have a well known resistor value input issue that Roland corrected on a number of units. All in all if you are music oriented more than editor obsessed- if you like musically "friendly" compression not unlike some famous hardware and if you are actually good with mixing on the fly: its a no brainer. Full rock solid sync in any sync mode. Outstanding dynamics- super headroom- non thin- the inputs are based on 5532/5534 and they sound excellent as the circuits were actually designed for them- not yet another cookbook digital cereal box.
