SynopsisWidowed father Leland Fowler turns to homeopathic healer Carissa for help, and she heals both his body and his heart, but when another of her patients suddenly goes into a coma, law officer Leland is faced with a difficult moral and ethical dilemma.
Bohjalian is one of the most clever writers among my favorites. His writing is intelligent, well-researched, a pleasure to read. His juxtaposition of past and present can at first seem confusing but he always creates a timeline that makes sense. One of his most intriguing abilities is to write from a woman's point of view in a very believable way. I finally bought The Law of Similars to keep on my bookshelf because I'd checked it out every couple of years from our local library and decided I needed it for my own. I have purchased his other novels and am happy to have them available at an arm's reach.
