The built-in IPS engine of the Juniper Networks SSG-5-SH router inhibits application-level attacks that may flood the network. For high-speed LAN connectivity, this Juniper Networks wired router offers fixed interfaces that constitute one console port and one auxiliary port. To ensure internal security, this Gateway works with network segmentation that offers security zones, virtual LANs and virtual routers.

    Nice little firewall.

    Nice little firewall. Bought it to replace a pfsense firewall I was running. My Pfsense had more features but it was running on a Dell R610 server that was consuming too much electricity. I wanted to save money with a small device. I could've bought something like an appliance to install Pfsense on but none of them was going for less than $50 which made the Juniper SSG5 the wise choice. It works right out of the box. All I had to do was update the firmware and change the DHCP scope to match some of my static addresses that my network was already using. I have more configurations to apply, such as VPN etc but at least I am on the internet now.
