About this product

Product Information

The Minolta Maxxum 24-105mm lens offers professional-quality focusing and high-quality images throughout the entire zoom range. The Minolta Maxxum comes with aspheric lenses that help correct any aberration while focusing and also works to reduce flare as well. It is designed with Minolta‘s own specialized optical glass, which creates more natural-looking backgrounds at the wider apertures. Also included in the design is an encoder that supports advanced distance integration flash metering, which details precise distance information for the photo. This lens works well in both autofocus and manual-focus settings, with the autofocus remaining in good balance even during handheld photography. The manual focus is also easy to operate, thanks to a wide ring that rotates very smoothly.

  • Great lens for sony

If you are on a budget this is a great lens. I use it on a full frame Sony a850. It is sharp but it's drawback is some serious vignetting at wide angle, esp at larger apertures. Can fix in post; this isn't ideal but is dealable given that the vignetting is an issue on many full frame lenses. The even cheaper Minolta 28-85 is much better for the vignette but the detail and sharpness is really lacking on that budget lens.

  • Has a good range

The construction is probably average, and it can at times seem too much like a plastic toy. The range is good and in general the center is always sharp. There is falloff toward the edges but again, it is partly a function of the cost. A great price for this range, it is as good as the 24-75mm $1500 buck Sony. With an adapter it is fine on the Sony a7r. Excellent when considering the price to performance ratio.

  • A classic DSLR lens still creates great images

Nice original Minolta Maxxim A mount lens On a Sony DSLR it is approximately 36 - 160 mm lens (1.5 for APS-C) Great as an all around lens Metal mount and “heftier” the the current lenses due to amount of metal in the lens Close focus to .5 meters (1.5 ft) Like most of the Maxim lens it was a top level lens A great lens for a Sony A mount camera

  • Excellent walk around lens for Minolta/Sony A mount auto focus cameras

Excellent walk around lens for my Minolta Alpha 9 and Maxxum 7 cameras. Compact, light weight and sharp. What more can you ask?

  • Kit lens on my A99

Bought this lens and use it as my kit lens on Sony A99. Nice sky colour. Light weighted, good zoom range and precise auto focus. Good value. Focus a little stiff.

  • Great lens that should be available in a more modern version

Basic design is great. Good optics and pictures. Great old design that will be ageless.

  • Incredible value

This is a fantastic lens, it has a really good range and is fairly sharp, colours are good to and chromatic abberation for me was not an issue as the a7ii has a built in function for it and if there was any major issues they were small and easily corrected in post highly recommend but only with laea4 adapter autofocus is good noise not too loud
