About this product

Product Information

The distance involved with taking pictures across wide-open outdoor spaces makes it hard to get clear photos sometimes, but Nikon makes it easier with this maximum focal length 55mm Nikkor telephoto lens. Photographers who add lenses to format and shoot portraits, sporting events, nature, wildlife, and landscapes can head outdoors to capture clear, vibrant images by attaching this compact Nikon 55-200mm f/4 if-ed af-s zoom lens to a Nikon digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera. These accessories feature lenses that you can adjust yourself, or you can skip the calculations and guesswork when you let the attached lens handle the adjustments. If you don’t always carry a tripod when using your Nikon cameras, you might find the vibration from your hands or even breathing can cause slight aberrations in your photos, but this Nikkor af-s lens is built to reduce that type of distortion. The 55-200mm zoom-Nikkor lens from Nikon is lightweight and has extra-low dispersion glass that promises to minimize aberrations from vibration and focus maladjustments. Simplifying the process of manual focus by attaching a Nikon zoom lens with an f/4 aperture and this type of image stabilization to DSLR cameras leads to higher optical performance and beautiful photos. When you’re in the middle of an active photo shoot, having a lens that is easy to attach to your camera, like this af-s 55-200mm lens from Nikon, can help you get the best picture quality. This is an especially useful feature when you are snapping photos of moving subjects, like athletes in the middle of a game, wildlife or playing children. A switch on the af-s f/4 aperture zoom-Nikkor lens from Nikon lets you switch between quick and silent autofocus to adjusting the focus for clearer photography manually. Making manual adjustments to your Nikkor af-s 55-200 lens gives access to a seven-blade diaphragm that enhances natural highlights in photos. While Nikon is known for producing quality photographic equipment and pristine image quality, you can use this telephoto lens to ramp up the image quality even more on those occasions when you need to zoom in for a better shot. The af-s f/4 Nikkor 55-200mm if-ed telephoto lens allows handheld photography with shutter speeds up to three times slower than a standard lens, and the zoom lens lets you zoom in on distant subjects into focus so your Nikon camera lens is able to format and deliver sharper images in both still photography and when you are recording video. Taking wildlife photos can be tricky with some cameras and self-adjusting lenses because wild animals run away when they hear unusual sounds, so the silent autofocus feature of the Nikon Nikkor 55-200mm af-s f/4 zoom lens is one of many DSLR accessories that make it easy to capture great pictures and video footage with your Nikon device. Don’t worry about your camera accessories clicking or whirring as the lenses focus on your intended subject at the wrong time and scaring it away. The maximum focal length of Nikon 55-200mm lenses provides a higher degree of magnification and a narrower, zoomed-in view that makes your faraway subject look like it’s up close.

  • Shoots great around the house and yard shots. Photos are clear and sharp.

I like this lens. I recently bought a Nikon D5200 camera body and have bought two lenses. First lens was a Macro for shooting gemstones. and this lens is for general photography, Even thought it is plastic, it will hold up if you don't abuse the lens.

  • Works much better than the Nikon lens with out VR

I had a Nikon Nikkor 55-200 lens with out the VR on it and it was so hard to zoom in and out i was afraid I would twist it out of the camera body so I bought this Nikon with the VR and it only has half as many arms that control the zoom part of the lens and it zooms out real smooth and only take 3/4 of a turn from the 55 to the max 200 zoom the other one took almost a full turn to go out to full zoom. it focuses very clear and stays in focus when frequently zooming in and out of a subject at the same distance as I use it for recording live music on stage where I zoom in and out on each player and it works great for that

  • Nikon Mellow Yellow

After applying up filter, there is no aberration seen by my camera’s sensor to distort my pictures. I was quite surprised with the results. This Nikon lens works great. Many thanks!

  • good enough for me

Auto focus spends a lot of time "hunting" and even then, doesn't always get it right on my Nikon 1 J5 w/ FL1 adapter. This may be due to the differing lens systems or camera firmware, but I planned to use the in manual focus mode anyway, so I'm happy. Fully functional AF would have gotten it 5 stars.

  • Cost/benefit ratio is good.

Good focal length range, acceptably sharp for most end-use images. Rating speed vs. cost, a good trade-off.

  • Good carry along lense

Good addition to my walk-around lense, a Nikon 16-85. When I need a little extra length. Very light and small enough to throw in a coat pocket.

Hi, Mr.g here, So Satisfied with my Purchase of my New...(Used) 200mm Nikkor DX lense, it "fits like a Glove" on my D3100 Nikon Camera, It was in Perfect Condition, Just as th Seller Claimed, and Arrived Very Well Wraped in Bubble Plastic, And, in a Solid little Box, Was'nt even expecting it So Soon! Already Snapped a few Shots with it and, Vua-la! Working Like New- I'm Very pleased with my Purchase, and wit the Seller, Who Kept his Word on Everything he discribed... • Ereatic focus *as described* but awesome.

Recieved this today. Was bought *As Is* Ad said the focus was erratic and it just hunts on AF. Which Is true. Narrowed it down to a failing motor. I've Already ordered a replacement motor for less than $15. The focus works between 55-135 just fine. Otherwise the lens is flawless. Takes very sharp and clear images at 55 through 200. Extremely happy with this lens

  • Very good, lens great price, very satisfied

Sharp, compact, vr is a big plus, excellent everyday general purpose lens. No cons except variable aperture limits minimum exceptions for me , that I could use a faster lens for.

  • Great value in this lens

The only difference between this lens the VR and the VR II is that the VR II is a smaller size then expands to full size. It makes this lens a bargain because it has the same specifications and to tell you the truth I like it better than the new revision. It's not heavy and has enough telephoto range for me. I like to use it with an extender for macro shots. The depth of field is short so you get a lot of blur in the out of focus range.
