Works much better than the Nikon lens with out VR
I had a Nikon Nikkor 55-200 lens with out the VR on it and it was so hard to zoom in and out i was afraid I would twist it out of the camera body so I bought this Nikon with the VR and it only has half as many arms that control the zoom part of the lens and it zooms out real smooth and only take 3/4 of a turn from the 55 to the max 200 zoom the other one took almost a full turn to go out to full zoom. it focuses very clear and stays in focus when frequently zooming in and out of a subject at the same distance as I use it for recording live music on stage where I zoom in and out on each player and it works great for thatVerified purchase: Yes

Auto focus spends a lot of time "hunting" and even then, doesn't always get it right on my Nikon 1 J5 w/ FL1 adapter. Ereatic focus *as described* but awesome.
Recieved this today. Was bought *As Is* Ad said the focus was erratic and it just hunts on AF. Which Is true. Narrowed it down to a failing motor. I've Already ordered a replacement motor for less than $15. The focus works between 55-135 just fine. Otherwise the lens is flawless. Takes very sharp and clear images at 55 through 200. Extremely happy with this lens

Great value in this lens
The only difference between this lens the VR and the VR II is that the VR II is a smaller size then expands to full size. It makes this lens a bargain because it has the same specifications and to tell you the truth I like it better than the new revision. It's not heavy and has enough telephoto range for me.
