In the mind of designer Tinker Hatfield, Michael Jordan played basketball like a panther. He preserved his energy and struck the opponent at the right time. Michael’s friends nicknamed him the Black Panther. He would read his opponents and strike with agility like a panther. The panther is the inspiration for the Air Jordan 13 sneaker released in 1997–98.
The sole of the Jordan 13 resembled a panther's paw, and near the heel was a circular hologram that resembled the eyes. The Jordan brand had five original sneakers and added two more after 1998. As a retro, the Air Jordan 13 appeared in 2004–2005. The fame of the Air Jordan 13 grew from its sophisticated design. Also, it was the last shoe Michael Jordan wore for a complete season before retiring. The Air Jordan 13 represents the end of an era.
The Playground Jordans
After consistent retros and collaborations with Air Jordan 13, the brand explored the grade school line. They released a new grade school colorway of the Air Jordan 13 dubbed the Air Jordan 13 Playground. This colorway was constructed under the same framework as the original 13 silhouettes but with a mismatched motif.
The brand released this sneaker in 2020, and it is available on eBay with a white leather upper and other colors like orange, yellow, purple, and green. The colors appear on the mudguard, midsole, and heel region. While adding to the mismatched theme of the sneaker, one shoe comes with blue laces and the other with yellow laces. The colorful Playground theme extends to the outsole with a mismatched motif. A green midsole appears on the left shoe while the right comes in Purple.
