  Because I live in Anchorage, Alaska and the seller in Oshawa, Ontario, the seller emailed me and said that he did not normally ship to Alaska because it costs more. I then agreed to his reasonable request to reimburse him a small additional amount for the extra postage. It was a little bit of a surprise but understandable. The product took a few extra days to arrive than was initially indicated but I expected longer than originally indicated because of the package's international journey.
