  As rare as such occurrences are for ebayers, it's discouraging to receive an item late due to issues with the carriers and proper packaging. In a seller situation I no doubt take the lead as the shipper and take care of my customer. Filing claims for damages and replacements. As it is likely the only other opportunity to show a buyer that I deal in good faith always and not leave a stranger to think the less of me.
