Lightweight, easy to use

I wanted something for my daughter that my granddaughters would also be able to use. My daughter does only occasional sewing, and was easily frustrated with her old machine. I ordered this one because it was very similar to my own Brother quilting model, which I love. It is simple to thread. The drop in bobbin is easy to use, and doesn't jam up. The best feature for a beginner or occasional sewer is that it also has a variable speed control that you can set, as well as an option to disconnect the foot pedal and use the start/stop button. This is great for children especially, who may have trouble reaching the foot pedal and keeping it going at an even speed. My 8 and 13 year old granddaughters are able to use it independently, which was my goal. All in all this was a perfect purchase for my needs.Read full review

Lightweight with great features...

I have not found this machine to be really easy to use because I am really a beginner. I bought the machine because I wanted to learn how to make a blind hem stitch. That, was one of its features. BUT, you need a special foot to do this stitch. When I emailed the seller about what kind I needed, the answer was vague. I believe I purchased the wrong one. I have watched UTUBE videos but clearly I am a beginner. In my opinion, the manual does not appeal to the beginner. That being said, I am looking forward to learning about this machine. Easy To Use For A Beginner

I love my machine. I've never had a lesson or anything. I think this machine is excellent for beginners. I haven't used it much because I've had to have stitches in my hand after an injury. But what I was able to make was easily done. So far the only dislike when turned on; the display screen doesn't light up which makes it hard to see the automatic stitch width & length which is displayed in small numbers. But the stitch selection and needle position is displayed in large numbers which is clearly seen. I paid more for my Brother because of the covid-19 pandemic and the manufacturer no longer made the cs6000i. I still feel it was a good price for the quality of this machine. I'm glad I purchased it.Read full review

Almost 5 Stars, Why?...

After comparing many options the reviews all said great things about this machine. I have sewn by hand all my life, decided it was time to man up.

As a newbie I was a bit apprehensive. I found a a series of videos through Sewing Mastery for this model, watched each one before I opened the box and everything looked familiar and relatively easy - even threading the needle.

Why one star short of 5? The box arrived with a big "factory reconditioned" sticker on it. I thought I was buying new. Maybe there was tiny font somewhere, but I don't recall it. I felt a little like I was experienced a bait and switch.

Expect for suprises when buy cheap online.

First thing I did notice was that the machine looks new, but was slightly used before and repackaged, everything on the packing list was there but obviously has been used or handled. Last but not least the machine did not work at all, apparently a big deal but to be honest with you it wasn't, I'm an auto technician, pretty handy with tools, I'd took the risk to void the warranty because I didn't have the time to return it and wait for another one, this is going to be a birthday gift for someone out of the country and it was time sensitive, somehow the transmission belt was out of place, it took to me 5 minutes to fix it and avoid all the hassle, after all everything worked as it should. Pretty nice and full of feature piece of equipment.Read full review

Brother CS 6000i Sewing & Quilting Machine

I have purchased several of these Brother sewing machines. Each one has come untested or without one or more parts, but when I added the missing parts, they work as they should. They are really good machines. They are easy to work with and will indicate when something is not right, whether the thread tension is not right or the machine is incorrectly threaded. Having a copy of the manual for this machine is helpful, but not absolutely necessary, although they can be downloaded online. An excellent feature of this machine is the ability to use it with or without a pedal. If one does not have a pedal, there are push buttons on the front of the machine to start and stop sewing and sewing speed can be adjusted with a switch on the front of the machine. There is another button to sew in reverse as well as a button to raise the needle to a neutral position after stitching. When that last button is used, the thread is never accidentally pulled out of the needle when the next seam is started.

I have bought several of these machines for a 4-H Club sewing class and I bought one to replace my own older Janome sewing machine.

Lightweight with Great Features for Quilting

I am a seasoned quilter. I have another machine exactly like this except it is being serviced. I loved it so much that I bought a second one. Much better than my Singer sewing machine.

It is very easy to use and the extra long table is great for my quilting. The package came earlier than expected and I was surprised. It was packed extremely well and contained all the parts of a new machine. I am presently using it and will use the applique setting to go around my objects on the quilt. It has 60 stitches to choose from. I suggest you experiment using them all.Read full review

Great machine!

Not my 1st machine, but it is my 1st computerized machine. I’ve seen some reviews that stated it was difficult for new users. I didn’t have any trouble. While waiting for it to arrive, I watched some good YouTube videos that demonstrated each of it’s functions and how to use them. I think anyone who’s used a sewing machine would be fine on this. My favorite feature is the easy load, drop in bobbin with a clear “door”. The price I paid here was comparable to the prices elsewhere but the fast and free shipping was a nice bonus.Read full review

Amazing Machine

I based my purchase on research and that included reviews so I will add mine. First know that I am a professional sewer, and learning new skills for my own purposes. I have a new computerized sewing machine at home and it's cost is over $1000. When I attempted to begin sewing on knit fabric it was impossible. I changed needles, thread, cleaned machine and nothing helped. The dealer's comment, "sewing machines don't like knits."
My research led me to the Brother csi6000. First comment: I can carry this machine like a purse anywhere! Based on this fact and reviews, I set it on a table on top of cushioned shelf liner. It hasn't moved while sewing!
Second: Bobbin winding is tricky. Work with it. Keep the thread in the tension wheel and it works great. You can thread this machine so fast it is crazy! Now I am over 50 and had difficulty seeing how to work the needle threader, but after tipping the machine, using a flashlight and reading the manual all at the same time it clicked for me. Now the needle threader works every time!
The purpose of this machine, for me, was to sew the delicate, strong knit fabrics used in bra making. I threaded proper thread, inserted a stretch needle, adjusted settings once and it has sewn beautifully! Not one skipped stitch or bunching underneath. Give up the auto thread cutter and this machine is a dream! Instead of my specialty machine it is now my "go to" machine!!!

Great features!

I am not very proficient using a sewing machine but I read the instructions on how to set everything up before using and the rest was pretty easy to figure out. There are so many different fun stitches to use. I am not professional by any means but this will be perfect for my little projects that I have in mind.Read full review
