A very effective rod cutter, but heavy

This really does a good job. It does a little better on the largest rod size (1/2 in.) vs. the smallest (1/4 in.). I've used it to trim 1/4 in. bolts, and cut 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. pipe support rods. The only reasons I rated it four stars and not five are weight, and the time it takes to change die size. It is very heavy and a little tough to position if you're cutting loose rod. It is really great if you have to cut a lot of the same size of rod - if you need to cut a few of several sizes infrequently, it's probably too expensive to invest in...
