step-up adaptor ring
I recently purchased a new canon camera which has a 58 mm lens opening. I older canons had 62 mm, and I had a number of 62 mm filters ... no brainer: get the adaptor ... all is well; it works perfectly. The cost of an adaptor ring is nothing compared to a batch of new filters.

Backup batteries
I ordered (online) a pair of replacement batteries for my new camera; they seem to hold a charge better than the issued battery. I keep all 3 charged and with my camera kit -- it has paid off doing this, and the good price made doing this an easy choice.
