Not intuitive to set up, choppy performance
Setup is "simple" but instructions are extremely vague. It is not clear how to set up or find mirroring on the device you intend to use. Once the unit is running and you figure out how to connect it to your device, performance is poor. I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and when viewing YouTube videos on the TV with this device, they are choppy and skip. The phone itself is extremely fast with excellent quality but when used with the device, the TV playback performance is poor, exhibiting skipping, much like a buffering issue. The room I am using it in is very small, a bedroom of maybe 10' long with the phone and device perhaps 6 feet apart. Putting the phone closer seems to help some but is inconvenient. The unit is "affordable" but in my experience so far, I cannot say that it is a great value. It is handy once set up and I hope that I can find some way to correct the skipping issue I am experiencing.

Older unit, Intel no longer supports WiDi, works well once set up
Due to this being an older unit and Intel no longer supporting WiDi or Wireless Display, initial setup and connection can be a little difficult. Luckily, Netgear DOES (as of 4/12/2017) still have a support page with documentation and working WiDi and My WiFi utilities to help out. You will still need to make sure you have the properly supported CPU, video chipset and drivers, and WiFi card and drivers. It took me a couple of days of searching to get all of these items installed that were needed. My laptop is a slightly older Toshiba Portege R830-8332. Windows 7 Pro x64, Intel i7 CPU, Intel HD3000 Graphics, and Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 WiFi card. This particular laptop is compatible with the Intel WiDi product NOT Intel Pro WiDi or the later Intel Wireless Display product. Since Intel is no longer supporting either, finding the proper supported system requirements was a bit difficult, with conflicting information but if you search, Intel does have links to the hardware requirements for supporting the use of WiDi. Once you have that ironed out on the laptop itself, connecting to the device is actually pretty simple and the unit does (as of 4/12/2017) update its firmware when connection is made. So far, my desired use of playback of YouTube videos has had reasonable performance with no apparent skipping or lag when just viewing.
