Recollections of a hero who grew up near my NEhometown
He co-wrote the original book, with dialogue as the men would use, and rewrote it so it could be offered in middle-school up. He has since served as State Treasurer in Nebraska and has offered a brief literary outlook on an important and a heroic slice of his life. We're proud of him and have shared the book with many. (Also I substitute teach and I carry it in my bag of things to offer.)

Good for all ages
My granddaughter teaches and some particular items seemed especially appropriate for her class. I'm glad I got it, because she now reads one a day when there is a free moment. My husband and son read it too, and we are particularly glad it has an index. (Happy I purchased more than one!)

A model teacher, mother and friend, she shares a guide!
We recently lost Dorcas, but her influence and words will be with us for a long time. This book reminds us of past happy places in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dorcas was a wonderful educator, even presenting early math classes on TV. Cavett Elementary School was named after Dorcas and her husband. She had to have been a warm and wonderful mother for Dick Cavett. Goodness, she was the first woman Marine and an early salesperson and distributor of Dick, Jane and Baby books. What a life!
