The Devil in the White City
Describes the Chicago Columbian Exhibition (world's fari) and includes parallel chapters of mass murderer H.H.Holmes. The world's fair featured beautiful buildings and landscape including canals and islands, and the first mass demonstration of electric lighting, Holmes murdered using gruesome measures. His body count, impossible to pinpoint, was between 29 and 200, mostly young women. He did them in at his personal chamber of horrors.

Can't have one without the others.
This book offers a clear (and controversial) guide for the positive growth of the young and adolescent among us. Odom's discussions of the "law of ten generations" have special relevance as the date of America's independence places us near the end of this cycle. A great read on many fronts. A walk down the aisle of marriage.
1 of 1 found this helpful An excellent fiction of a dying teen aged girl and the young man she marries. A tad brief, maybe more like a novella, the story nevertheless is filled with power and emotion.
