does not fit 2005 ultra classic

first thing i noticed was that the chrome was not the best quality, but not horrible. I removed the two rear allen head bolts at the rear of the tappet block, this is where the bracket gets bolted down, the bracket was too long to fit between the tappet blocks by about a quarter of an inch. so i decided that instead of returning it i would just trim down doth ends on my grinder and it would be good to go. now it fits , so i could re install the bolts and attach the chrome cover. BUT, the cover does not sit flat into the area that it is covering. ???? after closer exam, removing chrome cover, the bracket is not shaped correctly for a good fit. i should have just returned it instead of trying to retro fit.
