About
I am a woman of advanced age, youthful attitudes, limited funds, cooperative spirit. I love pretty adornments and furnishings and giving gifts; if something doesn't work for me, it goes to a friend. Big on used stuff: cheap antiques! Cheers.

old is cool
As I age myself I prefer vintage pieces that reflect the past, or new pieces that try to recover it. Whichever Lucky Brand is, I am happy to wear it. This design combines muted-luster "old gold" with a lovely, flawed mother-of-pearl stone. (I also like flawed.) There is a combination of simple, curved lines with "beaded" enhancements, and I like that combination of plain and fancy. It substitutes for an engagement ring that I prefer not to wear often, and I combine it with a very similar dark gold and pearl beauty that I wear on the adjoining finger. Good knuckle weapons if needed: heavy and rough-surfaced. But I didn't buy it as a weapon, but for the pleasure of looking at it.
My one reservation is that I *thought* that I wore a 7 on my ring finger, but this is loose and easily an eight. No problem. My friendly jeweler will provide a guard.

overlooked glamor
The Chinese invented the hand fan (I think), and it was a wonderful aid to comfort, flirtation, and sartorial style. Westerners have not taken sufficient advantage of this wonderfully economical accessory. Available from many sources and in many lovely shades and designs, they never fail to draw the attention of those who would be unimpressed by a statement necklace or color-coordinated shoes. I love them as gifts for friends who would be confused by something expensive and as practical relief during summer social events or sermons. They are a link to a gracious past. Let's bring them back into style!

Like cats? Stop right there!
2 of 2 found this helpful For cat lovers, this is a must-have. Literate, exquisitely observed, and excruciatingly funny. This author has a great gift, and for those with cat-lover friends, YOUR gift issues have been solved. Rough quote: "This is my couch, that is my rug"...etc....ending with: "You really might as well get a hotel room." Does that sound like catlanguage translation? If not interested, I'll admit he did something on dogs. You can look it up.
Sequel, about kittens. "I Knead My Mommy." Oh, the cuteness. We always thought they were crazy, and it turns out they are!
I am deeply in love.
