Shimano Baitrunner
I been out in the surf quite a few times with this reel and love everything about it. Great bale, the runner and drag work very smoothly. Unlike some of its competition, your drag is engaged the moment you turn the handle. With Penns, for example, you need to turn the handle a couple to engage. The only fish that really put a bend in my rod were a large ray and a 4 ft. shark and this reel operated flawlessly from the pick-up to beaching these brutes. Can't wait till Oct. when the big blues and stripers come back to town.

Pflueger Patriarch Low Profile Reel
The Pflueger Patriarch is impressive. If actually replaced my Currado causing it to be a backup instead of my main go to reel.

Daiwa Tatula Casting Rod
2 of 2 found this helpful I took my rod out the day I got it to a local pond and decimated the Pickerel population. I was using a tandem rig with a 3" worm that floated and another 3" worm that sunk. Pretty light stuff to be throwing with a conventional combo, right? Not with Daiwa. Had a great couple of hours fishing with no tangles to mess with. Thank you Daiwa.
