Fast cards
The newer cameras like the 1DX2 are coming with additional features like 4K video and super fast 14 frames a second shutter speeds. Even the very fastest Compact flash can't keep up with this. This is frustrating for someone who has amassed a bunch of expensive 1066x CF cards to use on their old camera. However while the old CF cards do work in the new 1DX mk2 ...the price of the new CFast cards have come down to a very affordable price and represent better value than the compact flash version. They deliver blistering fast speeds and no more pausing as your camera gasps to catch up with hectic shoots. You will however need to buy a new card reader as they are not backwards compatible. Sandisc and Canon provide these card readers .

Sirui Carbon Monopod P-326
2 of 3 found this helpful This is a very well made carbon monopod that represents a small compact and lightweight monopod for those like myself who travel for their wildlife photography and need to save weight for packing camera gear. I just received this so it remains to be seen if it can be stable enough for a big telephoto like a Canon 600 or 800mm lens but it sure beats handheld. Very impressed with construction and materials.

Simplest to use, accurate and intuitive portable vehicle GPS system
I've owned a few GPS's over the years and due to my terrible sense of direction I tend to use them more than most. My last one died and resulted in the need to replace. The Garmin Nuvi 3597 is the top of the line touch screen model and not cheap but you get what you pay for. The maps are great detailed and since I bought the N.A. version but work in the UAE I needed to buy extra maps for this part of the world. The extra maps are also very expensive to buy at $120 each but have lifetime updates and are very current and much more detailed than my previous GPS models. The download process could be a lot easier than it is but it eventually worked but not without a struggle and several attempts.
I really enjoyed the crisp LCD screen and sensitive touchscreen which made operation and use easier than my old model. The magnetic attachment and connection feature is great to assist with the quick and simple attachment or removal off the windscreen mount for either security or safe storage if used in hot vehicles as is the case in the gulf when not in use.
Would I buy this again, certainly. Downside is the cost of both the GPS and extra maps but you can pick up good deals off e bay as I did.
