All Pots Are Not Created Equal
I believe these are made by Bourns manufacturing, but I've tried other Bourns potentiometers and they didn't have the smooth turning resistance of these. They feel like quality, and unlike the pots on at least one guitar I have, the volume will stay where I set it. I know they are more expensive, but how often do you replace pots? Buy these and enjoy them.

Speed Knobs Gold on Black
These knobs look cool. They'll look even cooler on the project guitar I'm assembling. I was going to use traditional gold speed knobs, but the black will work perfectly with the black painted headstock/natural blonde body. Sweet!

Mac Mini Pro Tools System - Quiet and Quick!
I'm a "Wintel/PC" guy, but I decided I would try running my Pro Tools system on a Mac, for two reasons:
1. I've heard the Mac OS X is more stable and provides a better user experience for Pro Tools.
and 2. I just finished a course in Linux and wanted to expand my experience with Linux/Unix as well as familiarize myself with the OS X interface.
This system is a Mac Mini Server outfitted with two 1TB hard drives. The first thing I did was pull the system drive and replace it with a 512GB SSD system drive.
Replacing the System Drive was a more complicated process than with the PC hardware with which I am familiar. Packing so much into a small box as with the Mac Mini makes maintenance a bit more complex.
The seller kindly provided with the Mac Mini a USB thumb drive with the OS installer on it. I was able to "resurrect" my Mac Mini very easily with the thumb drive.
After installing Pro Tools 11 and all of the additional plug-ins (Toontrack, SlateDigital, Nomad, P & M) I fired up Pro Tools and the system works great. Flawlessly, actually.
I was slightly concerned the Mini Mac wouldn't be powerful enough for Pro Tools but with an i7 processor and 16GB RAM, there was nothing to worry about. It's a great little system, even if it is 3 years old.
