A good buy for hard working applications.
I bought this mono-pod to support a Nikon 300 f2.8 lens attached to a Nikon D3 body - a fairly weighty combination. It is sturdy, and has very positive closing extending leg catches, which inspire confidence that the whole thing is not going to slip; just at the vital moment. It also has a large platform upon which to position the lens bracket.
It incorporates a 1/4" & a 3/8" screw: the 3/8" section is pushed into the body of the pod, if it is not required, providing access to the 1/4" screw.
The wrist strap is not flimsy and is adjustable, if it is intended to be used.
The soft rubber grip on the head of the shaft is very good and does not provide that horrible spongy feel that you get with cheaper models.
This pod is all that Manfrotto claim it to be.
A good versatile piece of equipment, robust enough to do whatever is required of it.

A practical comprehensive flash unit for everyday use
2 of 2 found this helpful This flash is simple to use and set up. It functions well and is, for the majority of the applications which require a flash, an excellent and sturdy piece of equipment. I have used, at various times, all of the succeeding models of flash up to and including the SB-910 and, with the exception of the SB-800, I would choose the SB-600 every time.

Arguably the best of Nikon Flash range
1 of 1 found this helpful This speedlight is, in my opinion, the best of the speedlights of Nikon's currently available options. The LCD is as good as the SB-600. It is as simple to set up as the SB-600, though does have additional very useful features. It has a bounce card, which the SB-600 does not - which negates the requirement to always have a white business card and an elastic band in you pocket. It also has the source terminals on the front which enables the use of an additional external power source (Nikon SD-98A) - useful when shooting sports events with the camera in continuous mode, with the flash attached. Sourced in this manner the recycle time is virtually non-existent. And of course, the SB-800 is the commander unit for multiple flash units and performs strobe function too.
A first-class flash, in my opinion.
Without the requirement for elaborate Menus.
