Still a great option in 2020.
A cheap, fast, reliable workhorse. Plug and play on Windows 10 (via USB at least, network setup seems more complicated). Good generic toner is cheap for this printer, making the average cost per print less than half a cent per page. It also prints fast and I've met lawyers with home offices swear these things run for years. I'm inclined to believe it. My law school library had a bunch of similar HP laserjets and they took a lot of abuse and kept on running. If you can find a well-preserved 2055 or 2035 with a lower page count, I'd seriously consider it.
The only real drawback of this over a newer printer is lack of built in wireless. But a lot of the newer laser printers with wifi have more expensive toner (often with DRM built into the cartridges and other inkjet-style nonsense). Personally, I think plugging in a cable is well worth the cost savings and not being beholden to the manufacturer.
