Cleaning up the Act
2 of 5 found this helpful The only reason I bought two copies of the Rogue Lawyer is because I thought I had lost the one I had, but it was later found. In the meantime I had already ordered the second copy, so I gave it to my sister to read. However, I have a hardback copy of all of Grisham's novels and have read all of them. As you know, the only book he has written so far which contains foul language is his first, A Time to Kill. That book called for foul language to make the story realistic, but all of his other works contain no foul language because the story or theme of the book does not call for it. It seems that some authors cram their books with foul language because think that is what the public likes to read. I never did like that, but I would read through the cursing and swearing in order to stay with the story.
It seems like there is less foul language in some of the books of other authors now. It seem as though more and more people are cleaning up their language, at least in public.
