A good basic IP phone with G722 wideband codec
A Grandstream product, as usual, gets you good features for the price. Not quite as solidly built and the button action not quite as nice as the more expensive brands, but decently made. It does not support any dial-plan macros so 7-digit dialing (for example) is not possible unless your SIP proxy can support it. It has decent speakers in the handset and base to do the G.722 codec justice, not quite FM quality, but more like a strong, static-free AM station. The headset connector is RJ9 (4P connector) style, and can be set by software to standard or Cisco type. The web-based configuration is quite easy, since the IP address is right on the phone's display. Many of the buttons for extra features have rather obtuse icons on them, but this phone isn't really intended for power users. Like most Grandstream products it has a "direct IP call" feature where you dial the IP address instead of a phone number, so you can buy two of more of these and make a simple LAN-based peer-to-peer phone system very cheaply.
