Good replacement pads
These replace the original Sennheisser ones. They had extremely thin coatings, to resemble a very soft leather. Trouble was, the coating started to flake off the foam after a few years. The new coatings seem thicker, without being uncomfortable, so I am expecting better results.

Thoroughly Worthwhile Cable Reel
1 of 2 found this helpful I bought this reel to gather together several long lengths of cable which were previously stored as separate loose coils. I joined them by a safe and secure splicing method involving soldering, heat shrink tubing insulation, impregnation with hot melt adhesive and at least two layers of heat shrink outer sheathing. As you may imagine the result is stronger and safer than the cable itself. I mention this to placate the health and safety brigade who may that say wires should not be spliced.
The reel itself, is excellent. Strong and well made. It has a red roller which is free to rotate and guides the cable. To my great joy, I find that the cable never comes off the reel when winding. It is a very good design. It takes a little getting used to at first, but with experience of use, I can say it is streets ahead of a similar but simpler cable reel I own. The reel is very free-running when walking to the task and reeling-out at the same time. I can also reel-in quickly whilst walking, with no jamming or difficulty. I added a trace of oil to its bearing surfaces. There are no instructions, but I found that the red roller is easily removed or replaced if the black plastic at its ends, is pushed gently apart. This can be handy, if for example you have fitted a plug at the end of the cable, but have not first threaded the cable through the rectangular guide opening.
The panel mounting the three standard 13A UK sockets is easily removed by undoing three screws. This gives access to connect the other end of the cable. A good cord grip clamp and the usual L, N and E connections are revealed. The cable is passed through a hole in the core of the reel. This hole has rounded sides and should not cut into the insulation. For good measure I added a rubber grommet, to give added protection where the cable bends sharply through the hole.
As an empty reel, this may seem a little pricey, but I am more than pleased with the neatness of cable storage and its great convenience in use.
