Filmcity Shoulder Steady Rig Kit Follow Focus Hood for GH4 GH3 A7 A7r A7s Camera

Very good rig at a great price
I received this a few day ago and have been putting it through its paces. All and all it is a very good rig that checks all the boxes of ones that are 3 times the cost. When I looked for a rig I did a bit of research and made of list of features that I found on more expensive rigs and this rig had most of them. After assembling the rig, about 30 minutes, there are no instructions but easy enough to figure out. I found the build quality to be very good, the cage is customized to the GH 4/5 with cut outs for all the doors on the camera. Plenty of threaded holes and hot shoe cut outs to put your accessories on. Fit and finish is very good as well. I had a small issue with the Matt Box and the guys at Filmcity sent me a complete new one in a couple of days, excellent service. The new Matt box is an upgraded design from the one I was originally sent, I wonder why it was not sent originally. The Matt box has everything you would want including glass filter holders, a huge plus, metal barn doors and the side doors are two piece another nice touch. It comes with two shoulder mount adapters, one that will keep the shoulder pad parallel to the rig another that can be used to have the rig sit above or below your shoulder, these guys really thought of everything. It feels like the shoulder pad could be the first thing to go on this system, it is mostly a foam block. It would be nice if you Matt box could swing out, but it is adjustable via a hex nut, wish it had a thumb screw or lock lever, I can live with it. The cloth cover is a nice, to keep the light out from lens to box. It has both 4:3 and 16:9 inserts. I use Aputur Vari-ND lens converter so the length of the rods could be a little longer, but I have run into things like this due to using a lens converter on everything. My system: GH5, Aputur, Shogun, Rokinon Lenses, Sony Wireless mic receiver etc etc. My upgrades. There are 5x 12 inch aluminum 15mm rods that weigh in @ a pound. I have replaced those with carbon fiber / $80, I also replaced the main rods with 14 inch ones to give me a little more room from Matt box to camera. The rig is a true production tool on a budget, as a film maker you must decide where to put your money and this rig will give you much of the benefits of a far more expensive rig at a great price. This is a very good rig for those on a budget, working there was up from ProAm to Professional. Nice job Filmcity!
