Worth a read
Very good book. Contains high quality paper and 240 photos. My grandfather was in the unit, but he was a member of the ground crew. The book is all about the pilots and other officers. The ground crew members were only mentioned in a list which only printed their name, rank, and job title.
But the stories of the pilots were compelling. Thirteen of the original 21 pilots were killed, and some of the rest were either captured by the Germans after the American pilots were forced to land on the wrong side of the front line, or the pilots were injured severely enough that they were permanently out of the war. Some of the replacement pilots suffered the same fates.
The pilots had to fly old, cheap, underpowered and difficult-to-fly Sopwith Camels, which were not the planes the members of the 17th Aero Squadron had practiced on before arriving in France.
None of the ground crew members died during the war.

A little more cheaply built than before, but usable
2 of 2 found this helpful I checked five stores, but none had this kind of "magnetic" photo album. The type in stores only work if every photo you want to insert are 4" by 6". I had old photos in a variety of sizes. They just slide out of the non-magnetic photo albums, as you turn pages. :(
This "magnetic" album does hold photos securely. But even this album was made more cheaply that the previous albums I still own, that look almost exactly like this, and were likely all made by the same company. The pages on this newer album were a little smaller, and have a noticeably thinner thickness of the pages, compared to the older versions. And there is only one gold colored thin rectangle near the perimeter of the cover, compared to three on older versions. As if some boss decided to also "cut costs" by saving money on gold colored ink/paint. :(
But even with the thinner, slightly smaller pages, this album still holds photos well enough.

The best earplugs
2 of 2 found this helpful These are made of the best material, and these are the best color (for me, anyway.) It's a noisy world out there, and even inside, if you're trying to get to sleep.
