Reminds me a littleof Honor Harrington.
Good entertaining read, humor, fast paced, I liked it. They need one hundred characters for a review, so I guess I'll just add a couple of extra lines.

Excellent writing on possible societal establishment
I'm a fan of alternate history and possible futures. This book tried to follow the formation of different societies based on a premise of a loss of all energy levels above that of the medieval era. Some short cuts are taken and a few liberties with political realities, but overall a very entertaining continuation of an interesting set of novels.
