Shorttimer
I was excided when I got this Bridge Rectifier as I was going to solve a problem with the Flux Core Welder I have. The problem with the inexpensive Flux Core Wire Welder you get from eBay or Harbor Freight is that they are AC welders which doesn't give you really good penetration. So what a few chaps have done is to construct a Diode Bridge Rectifier to turn the welder into a DC Welder to get better penetration and less splatter, a simple fix. I found this unit on eBay and thought I'd give it a try and installed this unit in my welder. I struck an arch and got a beautiful 1/2" weld then the breaker tripped. I got the breaker up then tried to find what was wrong but everything looked fine except for the electrical smell. I turned on the welder and the breaker tripped again. I looked inside the welder and there was fluid leaking from a crack in the epoxy plus the heat that was radiating from the cooling fins. I removed the unit from the welder and saw the crack.
The unit was in for only a short time but caused a lot of work for me along with the frustration of not doing the job I had bought it for. The unit looked as if it would have been ideal for my welder which would have been right at the amps which it was built for. Good idea but not worth the time or money in my book.

Always be prepared
If you need to open the transmission of your old Land Rover be sure to use new gaskets when you close it back up. This gasket set is just the thing for doing that as it has every gasket that goes on a Land Rover tranny. The price of this set is well worth buying and extra to take with you during some backwoods treck or march across open plains where there are no service stations. All the gaskets are of first rate and comes complete in one package with every one you'll need. Always be prepared for the worst and it'll only be a minor inconvenience.
