Great River RK-1 Rack Mount Kit
Excellent workmanship and fit. Thick steel, and all holes aligned perfectly. Solid. My SOLE issue here is, at $65, the item seems a little pricey. I get that Great River products are a little more high-end ("costly") and as such don't fly off the shelves, but I was taken aback by the cost.

Well Balanced, Detailed
6 of 6 found this helpful Purchased these "open box" a month ago. Excellent price-or-not, these cans offer really nice detail, a pretty flat tonal spectrum (I flipped back and forth from my JBL studio monitors to the 240s and was astounded at how similar they were) and are remarkably comfortable. The build quality - despite their "Made in China" origin - appears to be solid (I admit, though, that I'm not hard on any of my equipment, excepting guitars). I am using these for mixing purposes, so critical detail and flat response are more important to me than spatiality, to be honest - if there's a negative, that's it: the 240s don't have any greater degree of separation than my Sennheisers or my AKG K140s. Not bad, mind you - just not "remarkable" in this regard. Very comfortable over-the-ear cups, and a nice long cord (I can't tell you how many times I had a pair of phones give me whiplash due to my own stupidity - assuming I still had two feet of cable left) and the semi-open baffle plate reduces incessant sonic pressure from five-hour sessions, allowing my ears to work longer than I would have expected. Aside from not being able to use these at a condenser mic while tracking, the K240 Studios are absolutely my choice for mixing - and for what I paid for them (about $65) I can't ask for a better value. They sound excellent, and I highly recommended them.

Yamaha HS8 - Solid
Very happy with these. Definitely more transparent than the JBL lsr305/310s monitors I have sitting next to them, which are less-colored than KWKs but not in the same league as these Yamahas. The HS8 sound is so similar to my AKG K240S can as to be almost indistinguishable. Bass is controlled and not pushed, highs are very present but not harsh. Stereo imaging is pretty decent, too, and there's plenty of power for when I decide I no longer need to save my ears for the balance of the session. Overall, I'm VERY pleased with them. Just really nice transparency, nice detail. One of my better purchases. I'm hearing things out of my Great River ME-1NV that I didn't hear before.
