A Must-See DVD About Werner Erhard, est and Landmark
This is a must-see DVD for anybody who ever took the est training or Landmark Forum. It's also a DVD I'd recommend anybody see who remembers these events, who has the least bit of interest in the history, or who is currently working as a psychotherapist. The most relevant portions of the DVD for me are the interviews with Werner Erhard where he explains his rationale for various portions of the est training, as well as his core perspectives. Also valuable are the interviews with former est trainers and leaders, including Werner's brother. One thing I found valuable was seeing Werner essentially conducting the est training in Japan after he began his "exile." Having already read the book "60 Minutes and the Assassination of Werner Erhard," I already understood the vendetta the Scientologists had on Werner and how, in this instance, they were able to exploit their momentary confluence with the media to essentially ruin Werner's American reputation and indirectly, I surmise, threaten his life. How Werner rolled with that below the belt media sucker punch and maintained his purpose in life I find truly inspiring. I also see it as inspirational how he managed to acknowledge his failures of his early life and optimally repair the damage he had caused. While many aspects of the est training have migrated into the popular culture, I still maintain that its larger contributions to society are still, for the most part, unrealized. There is more that can be done. While Werner has already made most of the contribution he has been able to make, there is still plenty of opportunity for the rest of us to expand Werner's seed perspectives and make a significant difference for the better in the lives we live--each in our own way. This DVD is a bargain at the conventional prices you'll find it at throughout ebay.

Body Back Company: Back Roller New

A good, less expensive knock off of the Ma Roller
I've owned a Ma Roller since I was in college 40 years ago. I still own it but leave it at home for my wife. I bought it back then for $20. Since then, as I like to say, "it's never needed a tune-up" and delivers the same deep muscle pressure as it did when the maple was brand new. But these days, the Ma Roller is a lot more expensive and I couldn't justify spending the additional money, just to buy an extra roller. This knockoff is almost-but-not-quite the same as the Ma Roller. It's central bumps don't seem to be quite as big, maybe by a millimeter or two (I haven't measured) but they most certainly do the job. The actual Ma Roller doesn't come with those rubber bands on the side (the utility of which I personally don't see, other than to be different enough from the Ma Roller to avoid any kind of patent infringement). But the price is right and I now recommend this roller above and beyond the Ma Roller to my students, given a college student's typical budget. If you've got extra money to play with and want an "original," buy a Ma Roller. If you've got more practical things to do with that money, buy this roller instead. You won't feel a difference to speak of.

The Most Historically Accurate of the King David movies
Yeah, yeah, I know. Richard Gere's a Buddhist. Big deal. In fact, his performance is a bit wooden in this movie as far as I'm concerned. Nevertheless, this is the most historically accurate movie on King David that I've come across. The story really brings the Biblical tale alive, from David's boyhood as a shepherd and as the youth that killed Goliath (the actor who plays young King David did a great job doing so, by the way), through David's dalliance with Bathsheba, the temple court corruption involving his sons, David's remorse at finding out his traitorous son was finally killed, all the way to King David's deathbed as his official scribe is taking notes. If you enjoy historically accurate Biblical tales, this is a DVD you really should possess. You'll want to watch it at least once or twice a year.
