2mm mechanical pencil
These work well mechanically. The lead that comes with them is pretty decent. The sharpener in the end works ok. It really is a great value if you need a basic 2mm mechanical pencil.

As a beginner
I found this set to be perfect for me as a beginner. It has a good range of pencils to experiment with to find out how to use them and determine which ones you like and if you would like to try something in between the ones offered. The compact size is great for carrying with me to work to use during breaks, keeping near by the bed for those late night inspirations or traveling about. The paper is decent, not much texture nor is it a heavy weight but I still like it. I would definitely recommend this if you are considering getting into sketching and drawing. I do have to add that a sharpener would have been nice to have included.
