Star studded entertainment
This is one of my favorite WWII movies. Rather than showing clean-cut heroes in dramatic and somewhat unrealistic situations it shows a grittier more what I consider realistic scenario of war. One beset with characters getting favors because of family ties ('How can he get away with that?' 'His uncle is the general'), troops burned out by relentless fighting and some who should have been sent back home to a nice padded room long ago (Oddball) driven by generals who are obsessed with glory (Caroll O'Connor), regardless of what it's doing to their men.
The all star cast , anchored by a young Clint Eastwood and an ageless Telly Savalas, carries the story through with humor and panache and a certain amount of pathos as members of the company die in their quest for German gold. The supporting cast is just as impressive and everyone plays their part, no matter how small, to perfection.
The only downside to the film is the music which comes straight from the late '60's hippy era and doesn't really fit in with WWII. Still, it doesn't detract too much from the film as a whole.
Kelly's Heroes stands in stark contrast to the John Wayne type WWII movies where the good guys were perfect and the bad guys the epitome of evil. This movie shows blurred lines and human foibles on both sides of a messy thankless war (as all wars are) and the people caught up in it.

Continuing Education
2 of 2 found this helpful This is another in Dolphina's 'Goddess Workout' bellydance instruction series. She has an easy, accessable style of teaching, which makes it easy to learn the basics as well as advanced dance techniques. As always she starts with a warm up; good for ANY exercise routine, before getting into the actual veil moves.
Her explanations and demonstrations are easy to follow and understand for almost anyone of any age. She's an encouraging instructor whose demeanor is meant to build confidence in the student no matter the age or experience level.
Since this is part of a SERIES it is best viewed after seeing the previous entries, unless you are already an experienced dancer who's just looking for a few pointers or new moves for their routine. If you're new to dance, starting with veil work is kind of like trying to run before learning to walk, or watching a movie starting in the middle. You kind of lose the basics.
As always she ends with a cool down period, another good habit for exercisers.
If there's anything I can point to as being negative in this it's that at @25 minutes, it's a bit short for my liking. She covers basic veil techniques but I think she could have done more to flesh out the video. I would have liked to have seen expansion of techniques, possibly short routines, more combinations. I think it could have easily been expanded to an hour without running out of things to say or do with a veil.
I still recommend it to anyone studying belly dance since Dolphina is an excellent instructor. She knows her subject well and, what is more, is able to convey what she knows to the student. Something that not all teachers can do well.

One of my favorites
I've bought several Blackmore's Night CDs but this is definitely a favorite. I have yet to find one of their CDs that I don't like and choosing a favorite is hard but this one is really hard to beat. The songs are beautiful, sometimes hauntingly so.
For anyone who likes music with a medieval/folk/celtic twist, this is for you.
