Work out while you clean the house
5 of 5 found this helpful My wife has assigned vacuuming to me and she recently bought this vac. Our previous vac was a more basic Hoover that was not self propelled. Of course she think's ithe new one is great. I'm not so impressed.
Here is the good - This vacuum has good suction and the beater brush really raises the carpet nap. The power cord is plenty long. The headlight is nice and the toolset is complete.
Here's the bad - I don't really like the self propelled feature. I wind up crashing into things and it's hard to manuver in tight spaces or close in when it's enabled. When the self propelled feature is off the beater brush pulls the vac forwad and resists it being pulled back so you get a pretty good workout. The lever to enable the self propelled feature hung up once or twice and I had to fiddle with it. The head is high and wide so getting very far under chairs or beds is hard. The machine is really heavy. It's impossible to vacuum most throw rugs - the thing just sucks them right up. I expect to spend a small fortune on bags and filters. Sometimes it smells like one of the rubber belts is burning up. I think it takes me longer to vac the house with this vac compared to the old one. The flexible hose can extend quite a bit but you have to strech it out yourself even to get it to a reasonablly useful length.
I think this vac would be best for people who live in one story houses, have pets that shed or who don't vacuum frequently but want a real good cleaning when they do.
