Budget friendly coverstitch
14 of 14 found this helpful This machine is fairly easy to use. Threading it isn't too complicated. Releasing your fabric is a little tricky; I recommend watching a couple YouTube videos and you'll get the hang of it in no time. There is no back stitch so you'll want to learn the various techniques to secure your thread tail.
I didn't have the money for a really high end machine, so I had to choose between this Brother or the Janome 900 CPX. The reviews said the Janome skips stitches and the Brother is tricky to sew in the round (i.e. Neck/arm holes). I went with the Brother because I'd rather learn a tricky technique than unstitch an entire garment. The Brother also has 3 needles instead of 2, but the Janome has more sewing space in the neck of the machine.
I'm happy with my choice, it's a better machine than I thought I'd get at this price point. I put a lot of mileage on my machines and this one hasn't let me down yet.
