no hydraulics
I like the fact that it has a threaded post, instead of hydraulics. Comfortable and gig worthy!

Audix OM series microphones
2 of 2 found this helpful I have been a weekend warrior for all of my adult life. I started off using the cheapest mics I could get my hands on, and sound quality suffered. I eventually went with all my musician friends suggestions and made the jump to Shure SM-58's. I used them for years. I happened upon Alice in Chains' unplugged video one time and was mesmerized by the clarity of Layne Staley's vocals. He was singing thru an Audix OM mic. I bought another OM2 a while back as an experiment. These are hands down clearer and hotter than the Shures ever thought about being. They are "next level" for me. This is my third OM2 mic. I keep three or four onhand for band situations. Although I still own four SM-58's, they are gathering dust in a case.

Impressive!
I bought this microphone because I had read a few articles touting Audix's OM series mics. I have always been of the SM-58 crowd when it came to stage mics. I found the OM 2 to be much clearer than the SM 58. I could gain it up substantially more with no feedback over the SM 58 as well. I will probably buy an OM 7 next, to see if it is even better than the OM 2. The Audix OM 2 is a real impressive piece of stage gear for a real reasonable price. Looks like I have to replace alot of SM 58's.
