Faulty runner or top spring
2 of 2 found this helpful I own 2 of these umbrellas and they have worked brilliantly in the past, lasting for a good long while until one of the spokes broke in one of them. So I bought this on eBay as it was cheaper than the usual retail price. Perhaps this particular one was faulty as the catch at the top of the shaft (either a problem with the runner or top spring part) kept giving way and the umbrella would collapse onto itself whenever the wind picked up. Disappointed with quality control. Otherwise, I find that the relatively small diameter of this make of umbrella makes it easier to control in strong wind. If mine wasn't faulty I'd give it 5 stars.
