Let's get Ready 2 Rumble!
It's an awesome game. The patched version of Ready 2 Rumble Boxing is a really fun game, filled with cool characters and you got Michael freaking Buffer boxing himself as the ring announcer (hence his catchphrase "Let's Get Ready 2 Rumble!").
I'm so glad I rebought this game to replace the original, buggy release (yellow disc) with the patched release (red disc).

Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This at Home
1 of 1 found this helpful Released in the same year as Electronic Arts's Def Jam: Vendetta and THQ's WWE 2003 games (WrestleMania XIX, Raw 2 and SmackDown!: H.C.T.P.), Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This at Home is both a wrestling game and fighting game where you combat as or against the wrestlers of JCW and BYW in the backyard, Meat factory, A strip club, the Mall parking lot, etc. Having said that, let's get to it.
The main menu is basic and have 6 options to choose from, There's single player campaign, Exhibition, Bonus Games, Create-a-Wrestler, Media Room and Options. In the Xbox version, the game features a Jukebox option with 41 songs (including 5 songs by those Bozo the Clown wannabes The Insane Clown Posse) of the game's soundtrack in the options menu, and also in the Xbox version, you can add your own custom soundtracks into the game and it's the saving grace of the entire game (to me). It also got a media room to show you attack throws/slams, unlockable movies and trailers to other Eidos games (the Xbox version has the trailer to Deus Ex: Invisible War due to the game be released exclusively for the PC and Xbox).
The Create-a-Wrestler mode is a joke, You're not really creating a wrestler, you picking a pre-set model. Afterwards, you can name it anything you want, choose an attack style, set your attack throws and slams and that's it. The create-a-wrestler mode is far superior in WWE RAW 2 (as well as WWE WrestleMania XIX and WWE SmackDown!: Here Comes the Pain).
Now onto the gameplay. The level designs are pretty good, though there is not much to say. After wrestler introductions (similar to WWF Attitude), you begin the fight. The controls are very awkward (i.e. Punch and kick are X and A respectively instead of just X, B is to hold and A or X to slam or attack instead of simply A to grapple), but there are some problems with the gameplay: The A.I. will constantly throw weapons at you, The difficulty can be unfair at times (regardless of it's normal, hard or porn star), and you would get your ass kicked (unless if you find a way to make a comeback against your opponent). The game is fun for a while, but it ends up getting old... fast.
Now to single player campaign. In the campaign (dubbed Talk Show mode), you play as any wrestler and compete in a gauntlet. In it, you have to fight to advance to the next stage. After you beat the unlockable wrestlers, you will unlock them. There is an optional extra goals to unlock videos, that's just it. The cutscenes, they're basically a parody of a talk show (such as Jerry Springer). In the cutscenes, they're not really that funny, it can be (most of the time) cringe worthy, until Mad Man Pondo shows up. Also, why the **** the host is trying to preach that BYW is for morons, NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY TO GET OPINIONS SHOVE IN OUR FACES!!! After you complete Talk Show Mode, it will take you to the end credits with footage of employees at Paradox Development.
Overall, the game is very lukewarm. The gameplay can get old, the cutscenes in Talk Show mode are almost unwatchable, the Create-a-Wrestler mode is a joke, and it has one of the worst soundtracks in history (I mean pop punk, metalcore, horrorcore, gangster clown rap, etc. really? They're terrible to horrendous). The saving graces to this game is the custom soundtrack support on the Xbox version, the unlockable videos, and a few wrestlers like Sabu appear in the game. However, the game went to become a success and got a sequel, which I will play after I purchase that game sometime in the future.
If you like this kind of game, this is for you, If you like wrestling games, I recommend WWE Raw 2, WrestleMania XIX, WWE Day of Reckoning 1 & 2 The first 5 SmackDown! games, the AKI wrestling games for the N64 (including WCW/nWo: Revenge) and Def Jam: Vendetta and don't bother getting BYW: Don't Try This at Home, because it's not worth it. Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This at Home gets a 3 out of 5 (Positives: Custom soundtrack support, Unlockable videos and stage designs. Negatives: Gameplay, Talk Show cutscenes, the game's soundtrack and create-a-wrestler mode).
