Gritty western from spaghetti western era
1 of 1 found this helpful Directed by American director Bernard L. Kowalski, director of the Columbo series and The Untouchables. Just the ticket for David Janssen fans, and even Italian western fans, since it is made in the spaghetti style where the good guy is not necessarily good; and made in 1970 at the height of the spaghetti western era. Also with Lee J Cobb, David Carradine and the incredible Jean Seberg. Besides being a reminder that Texas fought with the confederacy, the gritty story line about a Texas war prison pulls no punches and could be too much for casual western fans used to a sanitized Hollywood set/story. Only complaint is that this movie should be on DVD.
