A good read
0 of 1 found this helpful It is possible that editors are mostly allowing books that are written by African Americans that focus on our demise, deep southern accents or on our suppression. I would imagine that many African American writers want their more modern books to be published that show us in a prosperous light but that might not be what publishers want to publish on us. Upon reading the first few chapters of this book the deep southern accents are like a new language to learn, but soon that new dialect becomes part your understanding and the words flow as though you lived in the south all of your life. I am not finished reading this book yet but the first half of this book will keep wondering what is going to happen next. The star of this book gets herself in dependent situations that are not that uncommon to us today and the way she handles herself is always a surprise to me even though her feelings are completely relatable. I would recommend this book.
