back to casting reel
1 of 1 found this helpful decided to try a casting reel again after using spinning for 60+ yrs. tried 4 mo of fishing heavy grass and lily pad beds with frogs for 4 mo last summer and could not pull lots of the fish out of the weeds nor turn them when they headed down after being hooked..decided on what i could afford and to practice after buying a new one. bought curado i LH 7.2 after studying the stats on 8-10 reels and also spoke with numerous bass fisherman. bought the reel on-line for a 18% saving over the typical store price. put 50 lb power pro on it and practiced with .3,.5 and .7oz frogs. within 3-4 days of practicing 1 hr per day, backlashes became almost 0. able to cast +- 50 yards. still working on accuracy, but its almost there. reel was easy to set up with both "braking " systems, is very comfortable to hold and balances well on the rod i purchased. also, expect that internal quality will surpass what i would have gotten in a $40 to $100 reel and it is possibly the last reel i will buy.
