Reed's Hard Candy Root Beer Rolls 24 Rolls
    Nov 15, 2016
    A disappointment
When I was younger (a good many years ago) I occasionally partook of Reed's candies. They were offered both in the form of candy rolls and candy suckers. There were different flavors, but all were made of barley sugar. The roll candies had a unique shape with a concave center. Perhaps it is failing memory, or a yearning for times past, but I remember the suckers and the candies were uniformly tasty, with a unique flavor. When I saw the advertisement for Reed's root beer candies, I jumped at the chance to obtain a taste from a bygone era. Sadly, I was disappointed. The only thing these candies have in common with those I had in my youth was the external package. To my mind, that faithfully represents the packages of rolled candy I would indulge in. Nothing else is the same. The candy is root beer flavored, but it lacks the distinct taste of barley sugar, and the candies themselves are not concave, but resemble the candies found in Regal Crown rolls--albeit of different flavor. I will hand out these candies to friends with the caveat noted above, consume some myself, and never again place an order for them.

Novelty $ 1000 Dollar Bill Reprint/Replica MONEY 1934 CLEVELAND NOT LEGAL TENDER
    Apr 02, 2016
    An economy measure
I plan to use this bill to get out of a lot of small but irritating payments--to guys who solicit money for food at stoplights, parking-lot attendants, etc. When they approach me, I will flash this bill and say, "I don't have any change--can you take $5 out of this?" I'm betting that they won't have $995 on them (if the guy at the stoplight does--what the HELL is he doing there?).
    Cuisinart Advantage 12-Piece Knife Set

    Useful tools
I am a knife thrower and perform regularly before audiences. My girlfriend gets on a spinner and I throw knives at her. Unfortunately, everyone thinks this is an illusion. I PRETEND to throw the knife, and then one pops up from the spinner. Until I got this set, I couldn't convince them I REALLY was throwing knives at Gladys unless I managed to "pink" her now and then, and they insisted that even these incidents were contrived. With these brilliantly colored knives, the audience can see them leaving my hand and whirling through the air to hit the board. Moreover, the different color schemes would be hard to use in a fake situation, since I'd have to carefully coordinate the color of the pop-up fake with the knife I pretended to throw. Since I began using these, people take a lot more notice of my act.
