Fabulous remake of an earlier work and worth every penny!
Both main actors were able to give a newer meaning to the same words that are in the earlier production with Hepburn. The staging and main actions were different and more correct historically with this version so that the viewer could understand the material more clearly. For example, when Eleanor is staring into her mirror, the reflection is more accurate to the type of mirrors that were available in that time frame. Also, her jewelry that she displayed as she was dressing for dinner was more appropriate.

Truly a fantastic musical!
Great for a sing-a-long! Love this film! Have always admired the work of Jack Soo, even if his singing is not opera great! This is one of my favorite musicals for its colorful depiction of the Oriental community in America's past, and for the excellent acting of all the main persons!

The title gives only a hint, as the clues are really in the story!
The stories are taken from the text that I used to read voraciously. I enjoyed the actors' portrayals of the characters, and the plot was well re-written, and the enjoyment was generally better than reading the book!
