Underrated masterpiece
This film came at a point in Sylvester Stallone's career when he had just finished the highly successful run with Rambo and Rocky. It was highly praised at the time of its release, however it is become more of a curiosity than a film which is celebrated consistently. In this film, Stallone and an impressive cast including Ray Liotta give masterful performances, combined with an excellent script and tense dramatic sequences. This is not an over-the-top action film like a Rambo movie, but a very competent suspense thriller with an unlikely hero. Highly recommended.

WHAT ELSE NEEDS to be said?
Not much to say except that it is an exceptional piece of work. In light of the fact that Depp is probably better known for his eccentric behavior and even more eccentric roles (Pirates, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood), here he pulls off an underplayed masterful depiction. I missed this film when it was first released (Unforgivable for a film historian type) but no doubt, it is worthy of all the accolades given to it in the many years since it's release.

The only uncut version
1 of 1 found this helpful Well after about 10 years of searching for this film I finally found it. This is indeed the only uncut version available in the United States. Its wide screen I cannot vouch for the quality because is obviously taken from a bed original version but it is as close as you are going to get to be for original film that was in American theaters when it was originally released. More importantly it has the original ending whereFull shang Di's in the end. As many of you know the other versions include the so called happy ending where he is arrested and his buddy goes off to live a happy life. I preferred this version and I'm glad to have finally found it I am hopeful that 1 day there will be a Blu-Ray release under the official show brothers release label. For now this is the one you need to get ignore any other versions of this DVD.
