I was a fool
It's not that I was fool. I was just a fool for buying the cable without thinking. Of course it doesn't convert HD quality to standard quality. It's a bloody cord, not a converter! So you can't connect your laptop to old TV via HDMI with this cable. If that's what you're looking for, you'll have to buy a converter. The cable should work the other way round though.

Illumination could be better
The only drawback is that, you can't see anything on display at the eye level when you illuminate it in the dark. Luckily the clock is light and you can just move it up or down which can be quite annoying when you're half asleep, but well... Nothing is perfect :)
