Best headphones for detail and quality sound in home use.
1 of 1 found this helpful Im not an audiophile as such, but in my younger days I was a D.J. I still love music ranging from opera, rock and house. I bought these after reading many reviews etc, etc, but also to satisfy my attention of mid range detail in particular. These do this in a balanced and well presented way. Not overiding the firm, defined, but not boomy bass. (I have Sony's MDR XB700'S for that!) The highs are there in moderate detail, but not to the point that they command all the attention. This suits me fine and allows me to listen in full to all the sounds contained in a particular track. Spanish acoustic guitar music is pure bliss to listen to using the 650's. In fact, anything I can throw at these cans sounds superb, just making adjustments to the pre amp for rock or house music. That said, you will certainly need a headphone amp capable of up to at least 300 Ohm to power these. Ive tried it without, and it was like trying to run a jet engine on 4 star petrol! iPhone/iPod,Android,MP3 users should note. Since the size of the 650,s more or less dictates that they are for indoor use, then its not a problem. If its a current plastic coloured fashion statement your after that probably have AA batteries in one side, then these are not for you. On the other hand,if you love music more than your dog, then the 650's will be truly faithful and loyal to your ears. Talking of which, the 650's are very comfortable to wear for long periods. At first I found them a little tight,so pulling the adjustment stems a few more notches and leaving the phones stretched over the arm of the sofa overnight solved this. No,they do not leak more sound any more than they should do as they are open backed (Other people in the same room will know you are a closet Nolan sisters fan!) They still fit firmly, but more comfortable over my large jug ears. The lead is rather long though and you have to be careful not to trample on it.

Excellent amp and well worth the money
Excellent headphone amp.Brings out the detail in music even on low bitrate mp3 music.Bass is very firm and undistorted, while mids are very well defined.Highs are perfect and not pushy creating a pleasant balance. Stagesound is very good in particular with jazz or guitar. I listen to all types of music, including deep house, jazz, spanish guitar to rock music. This amp is superb with no distortion and only using half volume. I would have given it 5 star rating, but for the fact that there is no on/off switch on the unit.

Worth ever penny or cent.
I have Uears triple 10vi and V moda remix besides these. However, when Im in a hurry,I just pop the Denon's in. The 11mm drivers cope very well with the bass. The mids are well defined and the treble is very clear, but not overpowering. I prefer these to the V moda remix as the remix can distort at higher volume. Without doubt, the Ultimate ears are the best in every respect, but you have to fiddle around to get them on. For the price, the Denons are worth every penny. You will hear more than enough detail in your music and the bass is tight and rounded. High volume does not distort and they are light and very comfortable to wear. Whilst they are not a fashion statement, they feel well made and the cables feel of good quality, but not tangle free. The mic is placed at the middle of the lanyard which is awkward as I prefer it nearer to the top for better quality. This still performs very well with others having no problems hearing. They have a tiny carry case, which is too small for patience to keep putting back in so I use a larger case bought off ebay. My summary is simple. But these and look after them and you will be very pleased with your purchase.
