My Results
5 of 5 found this helpful First the bad..It really needs a point to anchor to a mast/wire (does not seem capable of supporting a long wire that has ice on it). Myself I fixed the matchbox to the mast via stainless bolts through the antenna/counterpoise connector and then ran a separate rope from the mast to a dog-bone that supports the wire. In my install, I am not using a counterpoise at all but rather a 50 foot length of R G 8 X to my transceiver as the internal ground.
The results: My yard is limited in length so I ran a 71' , 14 gauge tinned copper long-wire (recommend by the charts) from a 28 foot height terminating at 20 feet (tied to a tree via dog-bone).
S W R Results using an M F J 9 4 9 E Tuner:
160 meters on bypass: 2.2
80 meters -- will not tune
40 meters: 1.2 inducer G
30 meters: 1.0 inducer I
20 meters: 1.0 inducer J
17 meters 1.0 inducer k would not tune at 18.0 MHz so these results are at 18.1 MHz
15 meters 1.5 inducer k
12 meters --- will not tune
10 meters 1.0 inducer B
6 meters 1.5 inducer B would not tune at 50.0 MHz so these results are from 52.2 MHz
About the mast.: It is a 14' piece of 1 3/4 inch steel EMT affixed to the side of the house using standoffs. The mast is raised to 28 feet high and earth grounded.
When I feel up to it, I will add some wire in an "L" shape to conforming to the shape of the yard in order to get to 84 feet. Will see what the change makes later. Living in the forest means I have to adapt my configuration.
All in all, far superior to the G 5 R V Jr I had up.

Very nice and mellow
Softer than steel strings, easier on fingers and frets yet produce a rich, deep sound. If you get the light strings, you may need to readjust the neck as they put less tension on the guitar neck. Steel strings pull the neck up giving more fret clearance, silk does not pull the neck up as much.
Mine are on a Martin X Special series Guitar.
