This is not a make-up mirrort!
The trick is to tape the nut to the socket and poke a hole for the threaded stud, otherwise you'll play hell fishing the nuts out of the door. That's just the nature of the door. The original was motorized, but I cut the cable. There are only 4 screws to remove on the inside of the door and one of mine was already missing. All you have to do is manually place the mirror where you want it and it stays, just like the olden daze.

It works for me!
I popped it on the wheel with the missing cap and it stayed. Who could ask for more? It doesn't have Ford on it, but that's the least of my concerns.
