Substantial, well made, heavy duty lens.
The Canon FL 50mm f/3.5 Macro lens is a heavy duty dinosaur from the late '60's that was designed for the Canon FT camera. This lens is made from glass and steel and is heavy! This lens will focus down to about 8" and is great for reptiles, amphibians, wildflowers, etc. The FL Life Size adapter is great for entomology and is frequently available on eBay in the $20 price range. This is a manual lens that I use on older Canon cameras and can also be used as a prime lens.

Built to last
0 of 1 found this helpful The FL 135mm f/2.5 lens is a well made optical instrument. I had one that I bought new in 1972, then moved to FD lenses, then to Rebel digitals and I recently decided to get back in to film photography just for fun. I have two Canin FT camers and I am rebuilding my lens collection to match what I had in the 70's. I didn't realize how well these were made until I had the chance to compare them to modern lenses currently on the market. This lens is moderately fast for a 135mm and is heavy. It's all glass and steel and they just don't make them like this anymore. The FL lenses are great and the 135mm f/2.5 is a must have as far as I'm concerned.

Great lens for me!
Wildlife photography isn’t really my thing but it’s fun once in a while. I don’t have the need, desire or means to spend $2K+ for a lens that I’ll use only a couple of hours a month. This is a great lens for me.
